Mix It Up Mondays

Mix It Up Mondays will start again this week.  We had several of these my first year at OES.  On Mix It Up Mondays, students are assigned to a table in the cafe for lunch.  They are randomly assigned as they enter the cafe.  Students have a series of ice breaker type questions posted at each table and a few riddles and jokes so that they have topics to discuss.  The goal is for students to make new friends or at least meet someone new.

I am proud of all the student groups that we have at OES.  I am proud of the voice we give our students.  However, last year, I allowed students to talk me out of doing Mix It Up Mondays.  I regret that decision and think we took a small step backward as a result.  We are working hard to set up international communications with all kinds of kids.  If you don't know the kid in the seat next to you, that student might as well be in a different country.
